The Wrapp - Pokemon, Pirates, Cookies and more

Hey there, welcome to our first ever edition of The Wrapp.
This is a chance for you to see what the various members of the Pocket Gamer team are planning to play over this weekend and will, hopefully, give you an idea of some of the weird and wonderful things we get up to when we’re not keeping you up to speed with the latest news and tips. Heck, you might even find a new game to play.
Dann SullivanFor me, I’ll be out and about on Sunday playing Pokemon Go with my local community. There’s a Falinks Raid Day and so I’ll be out making the most of the five extra raid passes that you get for free on the day. The Galar region has come to PoGo too, and the new research just popped on my phone, so I’ll be working through the nine pages of activities that that brings.
Ozymandias also just released on mobile. It’s a compact 4x that I really enjoyed playing on PC when it was released. I’m always up for more mobile strategy, so I’ll definitely be spending some time with that.

Heyo! So, on my neverending quest to explore the realm of online gaming, I remember a genre that really got me into it and seems perfect for the platform: Tower defense. I recently rediscovered my love for it after playing the latest Kingdom Rush game.
Kingdom Rush: Alliance reminds me why I like the series and the genre with Bloons standing proud on top and Plants Vs. Zombies standing on their heads. That being said, I'm gonna be exploring a recent new tower defense IP called UnderDark: Defense since it was suggested to me.
I could go on about how I think narrative strategy games like 60 Seconds are cool or that it's weird that Doki Doki Literature Club isn't an app yet, but maybe next time. The Underdark needs me! There's also Lucky Defense which has an internet meme vibe to it and I'm gonna give that a shot too.
Catherine DellosaI woke up wide-eyed and innocent this morning only to be met with the heartbreaking news that Final Fantasy Brave Exvius is shutting down after eight years - eight years! I was obsessed with that one way back when and had to quit cold turkey because it was starting to keep my adult life from adulting, but now that it’s been shuttered, I’ve got a nasty craving for some good ol’ retro-inspired JRPG on mobile.
So I’ve decided to revive my long-dormant Last Cloudia account just to get that feeling back when the workweek ends - although I’ll likely spend a good chunk of my weekend just trying to recover my account details…

I am SUPER excited about the upcoming update in Cookie Run: Kingdom. With a brand-new Legendary on the horizon, and a new element (not to mention several other new features) I am most likely going to spend a few good hours on the game. I have been waiting for an update like this since I also plan on decorating my kingdom.
At the end of each year, there is usually a server-wide event where players share their kingdoms and the rest can vote for the most well-decorated one. I started a couple of months ago, and I have big plans (could share pics later!).
Once I have nothing else to do in Cookie Run: Kingdom, I am going to try ranking up in Teamfight Tactics. Currently sitting at Platinum II, and the goal is Master - or Grandmaster (briefly reached that while playing duo with Mihail last season). Double Up for the win!
Stephen Gregson-WoodA few weeks ago, Featherweight released an auto battler called Auto Pirates, which isn't the most inspiring name. While that alone does little to whet the appetite, the studio's pedigree does. You might be familiar with their previous game Botworld Adventure, a lovely little open-world RPG that’s worth playing if you haven’t already.
Auto Pirates is, obviously, a different prospect with a focus on strategy, including picking your ship's equipment and its crew. It boasts an enticing and colourful art style but the promise of no pay-to-win gubbins is the real draw here, at least for me. I'll have to wait and see if that rings true after spending some time with it, though.
Outside of the mobile world, I'm planning on finishing the Elden Ring DLC, which has proven a fantastic time overall, even if there are too many lacklustre dragon bosses dotted about The Land of Shadow. Anyway, Promised Consort, I'm coming for your ankles.

I’m unfortunately going to be the odd one out here, as I don’t have any mobile games currently on my to-do list. Well, there are a couple I’m writing up reviews for, but let’s keep that under wraps. And I’m sure Vampire Survivors will be in rotation if I have some spare time, and need to kill a few hours.
If I had to make a comment, I’d definitely be praising Poncle’s bullet-heaven shooter for getting me through many a boring wait over the past year or so. It’s deceptively easy to sink a half-hour into Vampire Survivors, and it’s extremely engaging without ever feeling as if you’re just painting by the numbers.
Outside of mobile, I’ll probably be putting my time into a few strategy games like Total War: Warhammer III, or trying one of the many, many games in my backlog. But nothing concrete, yet.
