Final Fantasy Brave Exvius shuts down after eight years of service

It's been a good run

Final Fantasy Brave Exvius shuts down after eight years of service
  • You have until October 30th to enjoy the JRPG
  • Sale of Lapis and bundles will end as well
  • All accounts will be deleted afterwards

Square Enix has announced that Final Fantasy Brave Exvius will be ending its service on October 30th, giving you two more months to enjoy the JRPG before it's gone for good. With the saturated state of the mobile market today, it comes as no surprise that games would eventually shut down - but it definitely makes things a bit more shocking when high-profile franchises such as the beloved Final Fantasy IP are shuttered too. This just goes to show that no IP is safe when it comes to cutthroat competition - not even one that's been around for ages.

In case you're not familiar with the title, Final Fantasy Brave Exvius is a retro-inspired title that's had its fair share of epic collabs both within the Square Enix family and from other franchises as well. I was personally obsessed with it way back when, so it's disheartening to see it go away after eight years.

With the closure announcement, you can expect the sale of Lapis to end too, along with bundles from the shop. Player accounts will be deleted after the app ends its service.

"Since Final Fantasy Brave Exvius' launch on June 30, 2016, we've strived to provide an incredible and enjoyable gaming experience for our players every day that could exceed the day before. However, we've come to the conclusion that it would be difficult to continue maintaining the app experience, and to therefore end the app service," says the official announcement.

In the meantime, if you'd like to enjoy the experience until then, you can check out Final Fantasy Brave Exvius on the App Store and on Google Play. It's a free-to-play title with in-app purchases. You can also visit the official website to learn more about the end of service.
