Love at first Bite preview - "To date or to EAT"

- Match with humans that you can either eat or date
- Try to keep your hunger bar at bay
- Avoid other vampires who are also feeding
When it comes to dating, things are already very challenging. But what if you are also a vampire?! In a world with other vampires?! Well, in Love at first Bite, you play as a vampire trying to get on the dating scene while also feeding your own hunger.
The game itself is in three parts, with the first part being actually matching with the person you are going on a date with. In a Tinder-style swipe left or white screen, you are shown different profiles that you can Yes or No. The information on these pages can be used to make sure you aren't matching with other vampires, as that would cause chaos.

When playing Love at first Bite, I quite enjoyed matching with people who were afraid of supernatural things, just so that their biggest fear could eat them! If they match back with you, after you have swiped yes for three of the people, you then go into the second part of the game where you need to reply to their messages.

If you have matched with anyone, they have sent a few starting messages. Depending on their profiles and the replies you have available to you, you need to charm them into a date. They can block you if you don't reply or if you reply negatively, so you do need to think before you select replies. This section of the game is a little quick before you go on the date.
The date itself in Love at first Bite has you responding with two options, depending on what you and your date want to do. There is a bar on the left-hand side of the screen that shows how hot or cold you are with your date. If you want to eat them, you need to get to the top or bottom of the bar. If you want to be friends with this human, you need to make sure you stay in the middle and let them survive on their date.

In the menu, where you get to choose people to possibly date, you can actually see how hungry you are, and you do need to feed! This balance feels like it would be quite a fun time.
Love at first Bite doesn't have a release date, but I got the chance to play this game at BIG Conference this year. I really enjoyed the concept and the vertical slice I saw there.
