Indie developer Sander Frenken has announced that his upcoming game, Battledom, is now in Alpha testing. The upcoming RTS-lite is a spiritual successor to Frenken's 2020 release Herodom. A part-time developer, Frenken has spent roughly two years developing Battledom, which he states is similar to his original plan for his tower defence hit Herodom.

According to Sander, Battledom utilizes RTS battle mechanics allowing you to freely move units across the map. You’ll target enemies across the map and manually fire siege weapons to decimate them. You can also utilize a variety of formations in battle, adding to the strategy element.

You’ll use coins to create new units for your army. These units begin without any armour and only the most basic of weapons. You can customize your units, however, by equipping them with weapons and armour. Each equipable item affects unit stats such as range, accuracy, defence points, and attack power.

However, you won't be finding these items as you explore. Rather, you will need to craft them in your village. Collect resources, including wood, leather, coal, and craft items, by visiting the blacksmith, magician, or one of the other crafters in your town.

Frenken is best known for Herodom, which currently boasts a rating of 4.6 on the App Store. Featuring more than 55 heroes to collect and over 150 units and siege weapons, Herdom challenges you to partake in historically inspired battles. As you progress, you’ll unlock new hairstyles and bodies as well as crops and animals for your farm.

You can join the Battledom alpha after downloading TestFlight to your iOS device. To learn more about this upcoming RTS-lite and keep up with all the latest news, follow Sander Frenken on X or Reddit. You can also check out Frenken’s other games by visiting the App Store.
