It seems that mobile is increasingly the place to be for previously PC-only indies. And the latest to make the jump is developer Urnique Studios' Timelie, courtesy of publisher Snapbreak. Arriving sometime in 2025, it's already made a splash on PC, so what's all the fuss about?

Timelie, on the face of it, seems to be a simple enemy-evading puzzler where you play as a young girl and her cat navigating a mysterious sci-fi world. But what stands out with Timelie are the mechanics, as it offers you the ability to rewind time. Evading enemy guards becomes a breeze if you manage to predict their moves correctly with this mechanic.

Telling its story via evocative music and character interactions, Timelie professes to offer a heartfelt narrative. It's already been praised for its design and atmosphere, and with its minimalist visuals easily translatable to mobile, it's little surprise that this is Timelie's next stop.

Stand-out or stand-in?

Admittedly, looking at Timelie I'm not sure how well this puzzler will appeal to those of you looking for high-octane, action-heavy gameplay. But then, who comes to a puzzle game for that, anyway? I've already been grabbed by the mechanics and visuals, with the gameplay reminding me heavily of the trial-and-error centric Hitman and Deus Ex GO series which rewarded experimentation and strategy.

And while it's definitely not the first to do it, I do feel as if we've seen an increased trend of indies coming to mobile lately. I think that speaks to a bit more confidence in the taste of your average player, personally.

Timelie is set to arrive on mobile sometime in 2025. But if you can't wait that long, why not take a look at our review of cat-themed puzzler Mister Antonio for some ways to while away the hours with more feline friends?
