Anime Defenders Update 4 Part 1 brought a new season, plenty of reworks, and tons of buffs/nerfs for the massive character roster. To help you keep up with the meta, we have brought you this updated Anime Defenders tier list.

In this tier list, we’re ranking the base versions of all units available in Roblox’s Anime Defenders. That means you won’t see units like Grand Aether King or Legion Assassin Master. These are meta-breaking units and ranking them alongside the base versions is unfair. However, the base version rankings should give you an idea of which units are worth evolving.

Starting from S+ and going down to D, we’ve used six tiers to rank the 60+ units in this tier list. Most low rarity units are in the lower tiers and high rarity units occupy the higher tiers. However, there are a few surprises in there too!

Before jumping into the tier list, quickly redeem the latest Anime Defenders codes and stock up on Lucky Tickets and Gems needed to summon and upgrade your favourite units.

S+ Tier

  • King of Dragons
  • Dragon Mage
  • Expert Sharpshooter
  • Golden Adult
  • Radiant Monarch
King of Dragons is a powerful 2-star Mythical unit that evolves from Flame Dragon God. It excels at dealing massive area-of-effect damage with its signature ability, Flame Nuke. Its passive skill boosts burn damage, making it even more deadly. As it upgrades, it becomes a versatile unit with improved damage, range, and attack speed. Dragon Mage is a Secret Unit evolved from Dragon Wizard. It boosts burn damage for nearby units and has a powerful AoE attack. It's a high-damage unit that can target both air and ground units. However, it's non-tradable and requires specific items to evolve. Expert Sharpshooter is a 2-star Mythical unit with a high critical hit chance and damage. Her ultimate ability, Huge Bullet Blast, deals massive damage in a wide area. To evolve her, you'll need a Proficient Sharpshooter and a Mystic Sniper Show. Excels in Raids and Tower. Golden Adult is a Secret unit that evolves from Golden Boy. It inflicts multiple debuffs on enemies, including Burn, Bleed, and Curse. It deals significant damage in a circular area and has a decent attack speed. Radiant Monarch unit is a high-damage unit that inflicts both normal damage and bleeds damage. It has a decent range and damage per second. As it upgrades, its damage output increases significantly.

S Tier

  • Abyssal Warden
  • Dark Revenant
  • Skull Vindicator
  • Poseidon (Sea Sovereign)
  • Shadow Master
  • Sage Deity
  • Elf Saint
  • The Gamer
Abyssal Warden is an Exclusive unit that can be obtained via evolving from Spectral Warden. Has the ability to summon. Very high damage output, decent range, and great AoE. Dark Revenant is a Limited Exclusive unit that evolves from Dark Sovereign. It has a devastating attack that deals massive area damage over multiple hits. Skull Vindicator is a 2-star Mythical unit evolved from Skull Paladin. Very high damage output. His skill is a straight line AoE. Poseidon (Sea Sovereign) is a Limited Secret unit that can be obtained via evolving Poseidon. High DPS, full AoE that can apply slow. Shadow Master is a Limited Mythical unit that can be obtained via summon from the Trial Of Radiance banner in the Athenyx Realm. He's the best Burn unit in the game.

Last but not least, we have The Gamer. Expensive to deploy but one of the units that can solo multiple waves of enemies.

A Tier

  • Aether Knight
  • Ant King
  • Chief of Lava
  • Chance Taker
  • Donut Warrior
  • Fire Demon Ninja
  • Jadefire Knight
  • Legion Veteran
  • Legion Assassin
  • Pink Rockstar
  • Sharpshooter

This is the most inclusive tier of our Anime Defenders tier list and it shatters the ‘rarity’ myth. Legion Veteran and Legion Assassin are Exclusive units, the rarest in the game. However, when judged on abilities, we think they are just as effective as Chief of Lava, a Legendary unit. This doesn’t mean Legion Veteran and Legion Assassin are bad units. It only shows that Chief of Lava punches way above his rarity. The same goes for Pink Rockstar. Thanks to her 20% damage buff for all allies within range, she’s one of the best and most effective support units available.

Some have recently jumped tiers too. Ant King, for instance, used to be an okay-ish unit until an update buffed him up. Now he’s a solid solo option with some devastating AoE abilities.

Aether Knight is a low-cost, high-damage Hybrid unit that gets a 2% damage boost for every unit inside his AoE range. That’s one of the best passives and makes him a highly effective unit in every game mode. Chance Taker is the least effective Secret unit of Anime Defenders, especially when you factor in the 2,500 deployment cost. He’s got decent AoE range and damage but can’t target airborne enemies. On the other hand, Donut Warrior can target ground and airborne enemies by slowing them down to a near standstill. But, his AoE range isn’t the best. Fire Demon Ninja and Jadefire Knight are both Hybrid Mythicals with massive AoE damage and range. Pair them up with each other to deal burn damage and an additional 10% damage to all enemies within the range of Jadefire Knight. Sharpshooter, the final name in tier A is a Mythical unit but you’ll have to upgrade and evolve him to get the best AoE damage and range. We suggest investing heavily in Sharpshooter because you’ll get the best Hill unit for every Anime Defenders game mode once you max him out!

B Tier

  • Bloomer
  • Chief of Ice
  • Cursed Fighter
  • Muscular Sorcerer
  • Pink Demon Witch
  • Skull Warrior
  • Strongest Swordsman

From hereon, most of the units you see are good in one game mode or great at fulfilling a certain role. For example, Bloomer is a great unit for beginners because of its low deployment and upgradation cost. She’s also great for farming money in Infinite Mode. Chief of Ice, also called Ice Admiral, is another beginner-friendly unit best used as a Support. He freezes enemies, causing them to slow down. Cursed Fighter is from the same bracket too. His vulnerability debuff weakens enemy units so your DPS can deal +15% damage.

Considering his low deployment cost, Muscular Sorcerer offers more than decent AoE and DPS stats. Think of him as an economical version of Carp.

Pink Demon Witch is a slightly costly and less effective version of Pink Rockstar. She does everything Pink Rockstar does but has 2x the deployment cost and can evolve into Pink Demon Mage. Skull Warrior was the first unit to have full AoE on placement. So, there’s no shortage of range but damage is underwhelming, especially for a Mythical unit. Strongest Swordsman lacks full AoE but his Circle and Line attacks are good enough to get him in the B tier. But don’t bet on him to bring the same deadly demeanour in the mid and end-game content.

C Tier

  • Ascended Qi Master
  • Clay
  • Chief of Light
  • Dragon Slayer
  • Esper
  • Inferno Commander
  • Master Swordsman
  • Princess Swordmaster
  • Purple Demon Berserker
  • Shinobi Form 3
  • Straw Hat
  • Spirit Hybrid

We’ve officially entered the ‘weak units’ territory in our Anime Defenders tier list. Surprisingly, some of these will be the first units in your party and you’ll have to make do with them unless you get better units. Like Clay, previously known as the Ice Mage, might be the first ‘slow’ unit you get. And since he’s actually decent at slowing down enemies early on in the game, he will be a regular support in your team. Similarly, Chief of Light might be your first decent Hill unit and Dragon Slayer or Inferno Commander could be the first ‘burn’ unit you get to try out!

Princess Swordsman is good for beginners due to its low placement cost but doesn’t bring much else to the table. Master Swordsman and Purple Demon Berserker are both great AoE and DPS units for early-game. Sadly, they’re just good for the early game.

Some units are on here because they are just bad, like Esper. Who knows why this guy is a Mythical? Shinobi Form 3 is a Legendary unit based on a legendary anime character. But the in-game performance is far from legendary. All you get is a small circle AoE that deals 481 DMG at max. Both Straw Hat and Spirit Hybrid are the worst units of their respective classes.

6
D Tier

screenshot of Qi Master from Anime Defenders
  • Cursed Nail
  • Frost Reaper
  • Pirate Hunter
  • Pink Shinobi
  • Qi Master
  • Shinobi
  • Salamander

These are the weakest, least effective units in the game. If you want to collect these for completion’s sake, go ahead. But don’t go summoning or trading for any of these units because they are useless in any and every game mode.

That’s it for our Anime Defenders tier list. We’ve left out evolved versions and currently unobtainable units so you might not see a few units. As things change, this tier list will be updated accordingly.
