If you're a Pokémon Unite fan living in India, we've got good news for you. If you've ever dreamed of representing your country on the global stage in esports, now's your chance as the Pokémon Company, in collaboration with Skyesports, has announced a new grassroots tournament; the Pokémon UNITE Winter Tournament India 2025, set to take place throughout February 2025.
Boasting a prize pool of $10,000, the winner of the tournament will also join the champion of the Pokémon UNITE ACL India League to represent India in the upcoming Pokémon UNITE Asia Champions League 2025 Finals. But competition will be stiff as the tournament opens with a qualifier stage that follows a single-elimination bracket.
The top 16 teams from the qualifiers will then advance to the group stage before being split into four groups. A single round-robin format will decide the top two teams from each group, who will proceed to the playoffs, and a double-elimination bracket to decide the overall winner.
Registration for the tournament is now open on its official website and will remain available until January 29th, 2025, leaving you plenty of time to sign up if you want to compete. The tournament itself looks to be part of a major push for Pokémon Unite to build even more grassroots esports support, which given the popularity of Pokémon in general, shouldn't be too difficult.
With a huge prize pool and even higher stakes, whoever wins out at the Pokémon UNITE Winter Tournament could be in with a shot to become the next esports headliner.
