Blasphemous is out now on Android, for all you god-fearing heretics out there
And lovers of pointy helmets of course

- Blasphemous, the hardcore 2D platformer inspired by religious and Spanish folklore, is out now on Android
- It boasts all DLC included, support for gamepads and a fully redesigned UI
- Find it now on Android, and soon on iOS
It's a given fact that organised religion can be a bit creepy at times. I mean, there's an entire movie series based on a scary nun. But Blasphemous from The Game Kitchen is another beast entirely with its moody gothic atmosphere, bloody side-scrolling combat and gruelling difficulty; did we mention it's now out on Android?
You play as The Penitent One, an armoured warrior fighting to free the island of Cvstodia from the grip of a malicious curse known only as The Miracle. Fighting through monsters and abominations inspired by a mixture of twisted religion and Spanish folklore, it's up to you to free the people from the grip of this curse and die over and over in the process.
Blasphemous boasts an entirely overhauled UI and tactile controls designed for mobile, as well as compatibility with Bluetooth gamepads, for those of you who can't abide by platforming with touchscreens. Naturally, the mobile port also comes packaged with all the DLCs included; guess you've got to give praise for that huh?

If you're on iOS you'll sadly need to wait a little bit longer to get your pagan paws on Blasphemous, as it's set to release in late February 2025. But given the praise from both players and critics alike, I'd wager that it's more than worth the wait.
Personally speaking, platformers on mobile have always been a bit hit-or-miss for me. After all the touchscreen is not necessarily a natural fit for precise platforming, as I found to my chagrin with the iconic Metroidvania, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.
Still, if you think you've got the guts for it, why not dig into some of the top 25 best platformers for Android and iOS that we've personally selected for you to try?
